Luciano Pavarotti Sings
with His Father
Luciano Pavarotti is the greatest tenor that ever lived. Here I have for you part of a rare
documentary by the BBC (1979), where Luciano performs with his father Fernando in the Cathedral of Modena.
What an honor for those people, unaware that they are listening to the world's greatest tenor in
their local church while they listen to the mass.
Pavarotti was born in Modena (Italy) on 12 October 1935 and died in Modena on 6 September 2007
at age 71.
His career as a professional tenor begun in 1961 and he performed all the way until 2006, when
the world saw him on stage for the last time. He performed “Nessun Dorma” in occasion of the Winter Olympics
in Turin.
Pavarotti hosted on a yearly basis, a charity concert called “Pavarotti and Friends”, which was
a grand idea, because he performed together with many artists of all sort of music background, bringing together
the audiences of very different tastes for music.
He “handed” this way the Opera to the very young generation, followers of famous pop singers. In
these charity concerts he performed together with: Andrea Bocelli, Bryan Adams, CĂ©line Dion, Mariah Carey, Eric
Clapton, Elton John, Sting, Bono, Queen, Deep Purple, Sheryl Crow, the Spice Girls, and Jon Bon Jovi.
"I think a life for music is a well-spent one, and that's what I have dedicated mine
to."
