Wedding Gallery No. 1
This was a truly memorable wedding that took place in a small Medieval village 70 Km North
East of Rome in Italy. The atmosphere was delightful and guests were all as charming as Italians can be. The
couple was on a budget (just like everyone getting married in their twenties) so the reception was organized in
the village’s square where the bride lived and it turned out to be a fantastic idea.
They only had to rent tables and chairs and the catering was very basic, as many people that
lived around the square volunteered to prepare food and help out with everything, from the flowers to the
decoration of the square itself. It was truly a public event and so many different people participated out of
their own initiative. It felt like going back in time a hundred years, when people’s generosity and care was
the norm.
The ceremony was in the afternoon, but the day started early. I was there at 07:00 o’clock
in the morning to record the mood and the events of the preparations. The tables arrived shortly after and some
ladies of the village helped to lay them out. The aroma of Italian coffee and freshly baked croissants wasted
through the narrow streets of the village; the well known hospitality and generosity of the Italian people
allowed me to indulge myself into some local delights, accompanied by ever so creamy cappuccinos with a gentle
touch of cocoa powder on top. Culinary distraction was a problem throughout the day for me.
